Cherokee - Waterrock Loop

This is almost the reverse route of the Waterrock-Cherokee Loop, except the routing between Cherokee and Sylva is a little different. From Thomas Valley it follows part of the Whittier Loop route backwards to connect to downtown Cherokee. It starts and ends in Sylva, NC and takes the Blue Ridge Parkway from Cherokee through Soco Gap and over Waterrock Knob to Balsam Gap, and on to the end of in Sylva, NC. Caution: There are some tunnels on the ascent from Cherokee up the Parkway. Elevation gain is approximately 5,900’.
