This route follows the Ring of Fire until Hwy 64, then it travels towards Franklin. You travel for a few miles on the shoulder of 64/441 then 64. You then make two turns and climb to the top of Wayah Creek Road. Then you double-back until connecting onto Elijay for the final climb. There are a few gas stations on the route (one on 64 near the bottom of Walnut Creek and another few on 441 & 64 and the entrance to Wayah Creek). The distance is about 77 miles from campus an the elevation gain is approximately 8700’. |
