This ride is an epic adventure that takes you from Sylva along the Tuckasegee River and is a scenic loop that goes from Sylva, NC through Cullowhee and Tuckasegee and then on to the Parkway via NC281 - Charleys Creek - NC215. It follows the Parkway up and over Richland Balsam (water is available just past the overlook from a natural spring on the Balsam side) and then up and over Waterrock Knob (restroom and water available if you go to the overlook) and on to Cherokee. It then takes your through Cherokee and Whittier and then back to Sylva via Thomas Valley Road. The total length is about 108 miles and has approximately 11,000’ of climbing. Fortunately, or unfortunately, depending on how you look at it, over 95% of the climbing is done in the first 80 miles. Bring fresh legs and a good attitude for this ride. The ride is mapped to start and finish in Jackson Plaza, which is just across from the Justice Center off Hwy 19/23. Elevation gain is approximately 11,000’. Tour de Tuck Event
