One of the local favorites, this ride starts and finishes on the campus of Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, NC, just 6 miles south of Sylva, NC. This loop has two major climbs (Cullowhee Mountain & Ellijay) and one minor climb. It may only be forty miles, but there is plenty of burn to be felt in your legs, hence the name.  Elevation gain is approximately 4,700’.
